Hi, my son will be 5 on March 21st. He's on his 2nd year of speech therapy for a frontal and lateral lisp, and is having the hardest time with his "s" sound.

Now, he hasn't been tested for autism, and I'm afraid to ask the doc to do so. He has very poor fine motor skills, and still has problems picking up small objects (change, buttons, etc). He cannot hold a pen/pencil/crayon correctly, and doesn't move his wrist at all when coloring.

He has constantly been "lining up" his toys since he was 2 years old. Not all of the time, but whenever he gets his Hot Wheels cars out, they all have to be lined up just perfectly (bumper-to-bumper or side-to-side). If one car gets stepped on or kicked out of line, he gets very upset, although he's not as bad as he used to be.

He also has not reached most of the developmental milestones on the chart for 5 year olds. I know he is still 2 months away from his 5th birthday, but it still worries me. Most of the other children his age are writing their names, knowing their phone number, address, ABCs, and how to hold a pencil or crayon correctly. Also, my son is still in a pull up at night. He cannot hold his bladder, and he does not wake up to go potty at night. He's fine during the day, but it's at night.

I figured the best thing for me to do is come here and see what others think. My son is just fine as long as it is something he is interested in (such as Spiderman or Power Rangers), but when it comes to something serious, he's not interested, and doesn't put forth any effort. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

Aspergers is a possibility...
Aside from his lisp, you didn't mention any other communication problems.

Welcome to the group!:)
