Hi I have a 5 year old son with autism who has had most vaccines. I also now have a 3 month baby boy and i am worried and unsure whether to get him vaccinated at all. I have tried to research the possible link between vaccines and autism and am so confused as to what to do. Please help!

I personally have never heard of a relation between the two. Have you talked to any doctors about it?

You may want to wait on vaccinating if you're unsure....if you do decide you want to vaccinate, you can always have them done when he's a bit older. Some people also spread out the vaccines so as not to overwhelm the system.

It is very controversial right now, and there are a lot of people that are sorry they ever had the vaccines.

Before you vaccinate, read Stephanie Cave's book. It gives a recommended schedule for vaccinations that doesn't overwhelm. Be sure to ask for vaccines that are free of thimerosal. The final verdict is still out on this controversial preservative, but if I were vaccinating my child, I'd follow Dr. Cave's recommendations and ask for thimerosal-free vaccines.

I too have another baby who has only had 3 shots since being born. She is 18 months old now. My autistic daughter Caitlin was a normal baby in every sense until she had her 16 month shots and then regressed. She was later diagnosed with Epilepsy (focal seizures) and Autism. The pediatric neurologist believes it was the vaccines that caused her epilepsy, and because of that she has high functioning Autism. Since the shots caused seizures in Caitlin, the pediatrician is spreading out all of baby Meagan's shots until she is atleast 2 and has more body weight. I agree with the reccommendations here on insistance upon thimerasol free vaccines. I would insist upon that! You can never play it too safe. My toddler is not in a daycare setting anyway, so they have no gripes about waiting. Good Luck!
