Hi i have a 6 year old with severe autism with no commication. The problem i am having at present he always takes his nappy off at night and smears his fetus everywhere. He has also started this in school.

Can you help with any ideas

My only thoughts are maybe he's taking it off at night because he doesn't like the feel of it - and if he's smearing he may just be trying to wipe it off himself. Have you tried showing him how to clean himself up like with a wipe or something? Maybe make it part of a routine?

In school - Does he have an assistant to try to make sure he doesn't do this?

Could he have a yeast overgrowth? Yeast overgrowth is rather common to autism. That could be causing discomfort.

Not sure if any of the above is of any use - Hopefully someone else will post.
