We've been struggling with Will a lot this week, behavior and sleep stuff mostly. Anyway, it's just making me more nervous about our trip to Cape Cod the middle of July. Is an ID bracelet a silly idea? He runs off a lot yet, and is so easily distracted and pulled off into his own world, that I'm concerned about crowds and the airport. My husband doesn't want to travel with the stroller (Will is a bit big for one now, but it would be nice to "lock" him in!). I think I'm just going to get an ID bracelet that has his name on the front, and our names on the back with either my cell number or our home number. I know this won't keep him "safe" or keep him from walking into the middle of a busy street, but I guess if it at least makes me feel better it's not a bad idea, right?

Has anyone else used ID bracelets for their children? What info would you include? - we do not have him on a special diet (not yet anyway), and he does not have any allergies so it wouldn't need to include medical info.

ID bracelets are a great idea if he will wear one!

There are also some special alert bracelets that beep if he gets a certain distance away but I haven't really looked into that.

My son is a lot older so he carries a wallet with his (non driver) ID and our contact information.

When he was younger we made him an ID type card which included his photo and AUTISTIC. Later we were able to use his High School ID.

I don't think we'll have a problem with him wearing one - but he could surprise me! I'll probably just do one for both of my boys. Will really looks up to his brother, so that should help.

Will has great verbal skills, but I don't know that he'd use them if he needed to or if he were to get really upset. We're working on him always remembering our names, but he wouldn't be able to tell them anything else (phone number, city). To Will, ever location is Minnesota - narrows things down when we're out of the state, but doesn't do much if we're just tooling around MN!

I think the noise from the alert bracelet would scare him - and it would probably go off every 5 minutes with him!

Thanks!
