Hi! Mom of 5 yr old autistic from Puerto Rico

Happy 2005 to everyone and good luck. I am the mom of a 5 year old boy (Mikey) diagnosed autistic at 2.5.

He has an 8 year old brother (Augie) and lives with mom (Mylene) and dad (Jose-from New Jersey) and sometimes grandma, who comes from Spain for 6 months every year.

Right now I am desperate to find something to help calm down my son's HOWLINGS...he doesn't stop ALL DAY!!! and his hand flapping and hitting in his chin with his hand.

I have to be on top of it all day and it is draining me...all of us. He is very cute, loving, huggable, kissable, beautiful and I want to help him and help my family. Any suggestions??? I am trying the GFCF diet

Are they "happy" howlings or not happy? My son can be noisy at times - running around the house singing, humming, etc. Sometimes we up the volume on the tv, or gently shh him or let him know he can be noisy at the other end of the house. Of course he's older now so he understands better.

Good luck with the diet. My son cannot have casein so he's just on a CF diet.
