I need to get some high potency multi-vitamins for my son and dh (fibromyalgia).

So far I'm considering Super Nu Thera, D-Plex http://www.millnut.com/, and Kirkman's Spectrum Complete.

dh will want capsules. I'll probably get a powder for my son.

Anyone have other suggestions, recommendations or comments?

(even the Super Nu Thera wasn't high enough potency)

What do you need the vitamins for? Is it fussy eating, not getting enough nutrition?

The vitamins are needed since the Organic Acids Test indicated certain vitamin deficiences. It could be that they are not ingesting enough, but it can also be that they just aren't absorbing enough. It may be hereditary. Even if its that they aren't absorbing enough, giving large amounts are supposed to help them get some absorbed. My son has a B12 deficiency, and my husband has a B6 deficiency. These deficiencies alone left untreated can harm the body.

The test also indicated they both had yeast overgrowth, an impaired detox system, and low seratonin. My husband's also indicates an impaired Kreb's Cycle. Supplements can help somewhat with all of these.

My son's peptide test also showed that he should no longer ingest milk.

Without the testing, I would not have known about these things. Doctors just prescribe the medications, but do not seem to look into what the body needs, so they never have a chance to heal.

(even the Super Nu Thera wasn't high enough potency)[/QUOTE]Well the Advanced Daily should be fine for dh, who has fibro, but not for my son. I broke up the capsules and they didn't mix well. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tongue.gif He wouldn't eat the applesauce with it mixed in, and he did drink it in juice but most of the mixture stuck to the sides of the cup. So I will have to take another look at Kirkman's Spectrum Complete and probably still have to give him a lot of the supplements separately. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

You may want to check out the formulas by BrainChild Nutritionals (www.brainchildnutritionals.com). These come as good-tasting liquids, and are very high quality. My son has done very well on their Spectrum Support vitamins and minerals.

Thank you Terri! Actually I've looked into the BrainChild formula. I decided against it for my son since he would need to take a lot of it (to get high enough dosage) and if I remember correctly, I would have had to keep it refrigerated.

I ordered Kirkman's Spectrum Complete powder and its due to arrive on Monday. He'll take 3 tsp. a day of that. I did notice that Kirkman's uses a lot of synthetic vitamins though.:o We'll give it a try.... Now to find a good multi for me.

Update on the vitamins: I just ordered my third container of Kirkman's Spectrum Complete. My son has been doing very well on it. :)

I am new here so - Hi all:) My son is 5 and 1/2 years old and non-verbal I am considering vitamin supplementation and have been told by many to order from Kirkland? I took my son to an immunologist and an allergist and was told he shows no serious deficiencies but that starting a vitamin regime might help him... What do you think?

Yeah, they make lots of multis for kids now and you can usually order samples so you can see how he likes them. Brainchild and Kirkman are pretty popular brands for use with autistic kids. There are liquids, chewables and powders. You may want to check out their websites.
