If you could create the ideal place for your child to learn, what would it look like? How many students, teachers, aides? What about physical space, materials and equipment? What sort of training would the staff have? How involved are the parents, etc.

I hate to be a humbugger but the programs that I have seen have ALL left something to be desired . Overcrowding is a major issue in inner city Head Start Programs and other city and state funded programs. Staff/student ratio is critical but I think that the most important components are knowledge and respect, (essential too, is a sense of humor). An understanding of the children and their needs is essential to any classroom but particularly when the children are facing additional challenges.

Where are the best programs and why do they work?

Just wondering..
