Is it possible that my son could be autistic. I have had many great conserns lately about my son who is almost 18 months old. He was recently at his fathers and accidently got splatered with some greese. His fater told me he hardly cryed, which is hard to believe when he had blisters. But the more i read about autism it is believable. There are alot of mental problems that run in his fathers side of the family such as autism and mental retardation. My son also has a horrible anger problem. He is always bighting, head butting, and screaming. He also cant sit down for 2 minutes like most children his age. He just hates to sit still on my lap so it is hard to even attend church. He was around another child his age the other day and really had no social interaction like normal children. He was pushing this child down, taking his toys and bottle. He couldnt just play with the child. Maybe im just over reacting but i think there is something wrong with my son. Someone please help, i need some advice.

Your concerns are legitimate. Many of these are characteristic of autism. I would see if you can make an appointment with either a developmental pediatrician or a neurologist, to have him evaluated. We discovered my daughter had autism when she was bitten over 100 times on her legs, hands and fingers by red ants, and didn't cry, scream, or scratch at the bites. Where do you live? In the U.S.? If you need help finding someone who can evaluate and diagnose your son, the Autism Society of America has a Resources section that will allow you to search for help in your area. Their website is www.autism-society.org. Don't wait - the earlier you get a diagnosis and can start services, the better.
