Hello, I am new here and hopefull to get some answers for my daughter. She is 33 months old. Up until about 2 1/2 her language development was great. She learned her abc's, colors, shapes, all kinds of songs and numbers quite easily. Although she still does all of these things well, I can hardly understand a word she says. It seems that everyday her ability to communicate regresses. She also just freaks out if I run the vacuum, hairdryer, garbage disposal, ect... Lately, I have realized that despite my efforts to take her to play groups,, parties, Sunday school, she likes to play alone unless it is with me, daddy, or brother. She seems obsessed with certain colors, toy cars (lining them up exactly the same every day). Also, she goes around the house every day and finds things that are the same and stacks them and lines them up; she has done this for a while. I know that I cannot diagnose her, but it seems to me highly likely that she may have autism. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Also, she is going in to see the pediatrician tomorrow. One more thing, she has always had skin irritations that are difficult to treat. Has anybody else experienced similar conditions?
Thanks for your time,
Veronica

Did the pediatrictian help? It seems you do have good reason to be concerned. Also, with the skin irritations, I wonder if some sort of toxicity may be present. Many believe that heavy metal poisoning is common in autism.

My pediatrician did refer me to a team at OHSU, but out insurance would not cover the whole team of doctors, so I called early intervention about 3 weeks ago, but still have yet to hear back from them. Fortunately, my husband and I decided to take her to a naturopath, and we have seen amazing results. We have put her on a casein free and gluten free diet. She is on HMF powder to heal her leaky gut (put back the good flora that antibiotics killed), pure fish oil, and what is called unda. The unda is a natural way of detoxing the body of heavy metals and any other toxins in her body. We have also have found a place that gives her what are called foot baths. I don't know the exact science behind it, but it detoxes the body through the pours of her feet. When she has a foot bath a lot of yeast comes out and also heavy metals. We have been doing all these things for two weeks now and she has completely stopped lining things up all day. She talks to us like a toddler would ( no more echolalia) It's amazing. The only tantrums she's had last for about 20 sec. to 1 min. Very minor!!!! There was one occasion when she was given milk to test the validity that casein is a major problem. the same day that she had milk she had a 30 min tantrum and was foaming at the mouth. the ohter test was with gluten, and about 30 minutes after having 1/2 cup of gluten food she was babbling only and grunting, stacking cups, and weepy the rest of the day. Without casein and gluten she is so much better. We are excited to see the progress. Also, her skin irritations are almost completely gone. A staph infection went away and her back, tummy and 75% of leg irritations are gone!!! Her naturopath said that her body was so toxic inside that it was pushing it through her skin. We believe that. If there is anybody out there wondering about naturopathic care for autism, I would check it out. We believe that Ellie will be completely recovered from hers, and would agree her naturopath who has helped recover autistic children with detoxing and diet changes.
