We have a 16 year old son who is autistic. Mostly he is content and keeps himself busy. Last weekend, he got so frustrated because a website he was trying to access was not available. We eventually took out his computer and locked it in the closet. He got so aggressive and frustrated.

So far this week he has been asking for it but spends his entire day in camp so it is not as much of a problem. We are already anticipating the weekend when he entertains himself by using the computer.

Does anybody have any behavioral techniques we may use if he gets upset again. Leading him to alternative websites does not work--he is fixated.

We hope we can help some of you with your issues as well.

Many thanks,.

Did removing the computer help? I'm not sure I would have any better ideas...

There have been times my son wanted everything in his room unplugged and covered so he wouldn't have to deal with frustration. Well, sometimes he wanted them gone, but we compromised on unplugging and covering.

Would he accept any sort of plan? Such as if the website is unavailable, turn off the computer, and try it again at another time. Is there any other activity he likes besides the computer? How about video games?
