Hello Im Rachel more commanly know as halfpastdead /HPD , My son is Brendan he is 2 yrs and 7 months and yesterday we found out he is on the autistic spectrum ,We live in the Norfok UK and we are both feeling a bit bushwaked we found your site yesterday and this is our fisrt post we dont realy know what to say. Hi, Rachel. I'm Yvette (melsmommy). I'm in the U.S., in Mandeville, LA. I have an e-mail buddy who lives in Russia, but her husband is from the UK - Rawtenstall. Welcome! I felt "bushwacked" too, when Melanie was first diagnosed at age 3 1/2. I also felt (ironically) a bit relieved - I knew something was wrong, but hadn't a name for it until the diagnosis. Be sure to check out all of the UK autism sites. At least you will be able to get services. I've spoken via e-mail to parents from around the world, and there are some places where you're entirely on your own, like my friend in Kaliningrad or another parent I met in Indonesia. You'll find some wonderful information on this site, too - lots of "first-hand" advice, which is the best kind.
