My son smeared for a while too. I don't remember exactly what was done to make him stop. As far as the "humping", children do this whether they are autistic or not. They need to be taught to not do this in public. It's a form of stimming. My son shakes a keychain now. He still rocks (Humps)to go to sleep. As far as the smearing goes, try to make her clean up her own mess.
I really don't have answers, just a comforting word that I've been there.

Try putting her back in to onesies. It helped my daughter completely break the habit. She can't reach in there any more when the onesie is on! My daughter's psychologist recommended it and it works!!!

I have a 3 year old daughter who also scratches her vaginal area especially the buttocks area.. She has scratch marks in fact. I have to have my husband or my older daughter hold her hands everytime I change her diaper. The smearing is not so much of a problem though. She also humps but I believed that it was more of a calming behavior than anything else.

Could be a sign of a yeast overgrowth, which is fairly common in autism.

My son also used to have smearing issues.
As he got older he just stopped doing it.
Believe me I know how frustrating it can be!
But I am sure she will grow out of it or replace it with another behaviour.

I had the problem with smearing too, but never had to correct it. Now we are on the humping, and my issue is how to tell him (he doesn't communicate at all) that he must do this in private, as he just well, flops down and gets down to business..we shall see!
