My son is 4 1/2 and the teachers at school are saying that there is a possiblility that he is autistic. He seems to learn quickly but has very limited interaction with other children. He is in speech and occupational therapy. His speech seems to be clear but he very rarely completes a full sentence, and has trouble following 2-3 step commands. He is in occupational therapy for the lack of control with fine motor skills. He has learned how to count 1-10 in Spanish, Chinese, and German. The Spanish and Chinese from the internet and the German I taught hm in a very short while. I would like the opinon of those that have more experience around autistic children. I know the information above is limited. Would are Dr. be any help in diagnosing our son? Thank you in advance for any information or help. Thank you, Carl

Hello,
I guess that would depend on the doctor.....hopefully the doctor could help, or at least refer you to someone who can.

I started my daughter on the gf diet April 1st and I was curious if anyone else has tried this diet with their child and how it worked.
I'm also looking for some advice for taking a vacation with my daughter who has autism pdd and mental retardation. We've never took her anywhere because of all her issues any if anyone has some ideas that would be great.
Thanks..

Perhaps the doctor can help. Note your concerns and ask for a referral to see a pediatric neurologist. They should be able to make a diagnosis. Many Gp's are hesitant to make a diagnosis in fear of making a miss-diagnosis and getting sued.

PS. I'm not an expert, so if anyone disagrees with my reply say so and why.
