my 10 year old son thomas is just getting assesed for autism. he goes to a mainstream primary school with a special needs class attached to it.
we thought in the past that thomas might be autistic. but we had no one to compare thomas with we never knew of any other children the same age as thomas so we could not tell what was normal or anything. it was not untill 1998 just a few months after we moved into our 2nd home in northwich cheshire - united kingdom. when i went around my next door neighbours house. there son was 6 months younger that thomas. thomas was 3 years old. thomas was not talking as yet. thomas did not adjust to us moving to our new house very well. in truth he hated it. anyway we went around the next door neighbours house. there little son was talking very fluient and understanding everything. i thought he must be older than thomas. but he was not he was much younger. so i thought that there must be something the matter with little thomas. anyway before all of this thomas had been being sick a lot. he had trouble keeping solids down. i finally got help. after i went to the doctor. thomas went to see a lady doctor in crewe leighton hospital cheshire. she do i require help for thomass speech and eating and i said yes. thomass appetite to this day is still very poor he won't try new foods. this story goes back lots of years and plenty of battles with schools phycoligists/dietichons/ the lot sorry about my spelling. thomas goes into high school next september. and i hope he will be fine.
