I was curious to know if anuone has these problems...
My son has a tendency to slam doors, drawers, etc.
When I remind him to try not to, he says "I promise not to slam the drawer again, Mom.", and I say OK. He really does seem to understand what I am saying, but five minutes later, he will come back and repeat the statement, "I promise not to slam the drawer again, Mom." I try not to lose patience, but remind him to stop repeating himself. He will sometimes do this four or five times, if I don't stop him.
Well, shortly after, he will come in and slam the drawer again. Then do the whole repeating thing that he won't do it again.
He does this with several bad habits that he has.
He will also take food left on other people's plates. When he eats, he pushes as much food as he can into his mouth, and scrapes every last bit off his plate I've been working very hard with him on these habits. He will also eat breakfast when I'm not looking, and then say that he hasn't eaten, so that he can have a second one. He can't stand even one crumb of food left on a plate, in the sink, or in the garbage.
He lies, and will deny something that he has done, or will blame someone else
He also has a tendency to rip things up, such as magazines, if they have the slightest tear in them, and to throw things away if they have any imperfection or mark on them.
I guess that we've always had these problems, but I am hoping that someone in the forum might give me some new ideas.
