Hello,
We are planning to establish a new kids’ entertainment place in Great Toronto area. There will be play-ground, art studio, science workshops, etc. And we want to give the opportunity to autistic kids to make new friends, develop skills and have fun without being disturbed by others. I want to get in touch with parents of ASD kids in order to learn their needs. All your suggestions are welcome at: Yulia.tsitrin@utoronto.ca

Maybe you can involve an adult or an older kid with an autism spectrum difference to work with you. Maybe there is one and they haven't identified themselves as such.

You need to be sensitive to over-stimulation risks in your plans. Being able to find a quiet space or time to regroup got to be really important when my son attended events and attractions. (Still does, but at 18 he's pretty much able to organize it for himself-- or delay the need more than he used to -- or choose not to show up if it looks unlikely that the opportunity will present.)

All that dog-and-pony-show stuff that kids are supposed to like, is not likely to appeal to kids with Autism, and may actually be a REAL PAIN! Crowded places can be too.

The best accomodations create opportunities for dignified self-management without the necessity of embracing some label! :)
