Hi, Our son was recently diagnosed as "High-Functioning Autistic". He is 7 years old. His problem areas are with social interaction and comprehension, which affects many other areas. He has good language skills, but doesn't seem to understand the appropriate way to use them. He eats only certain foods, which includes lots of milk and the only vegtable he eats is potaoes.
I am finding lots of info on the internet, and am not sure what is worth pursuing and what isn't. Does anyone have any advice on vitamin therapy or a special diet regimen? Is there any specific books that you would recommend for teaching appropriate social interaction? There's lots out there, but I'm not sure which ones to invest in. I'm open to suggestions.

Welcome to the group!

The limited diet is a concern. Could be a sensory issue there.

Many autistic people have a problem digesting milk. I found this was a problem for my son when we did a peptide test. Some are using enzymes in place of the GF/CF diet. Houston Enzymes is the one most use. http://216.114.78.114/webcenter/sites/hni/

You probably want to find a good multiple vitamin he will take. Kirkman's makes many formulas for use with autistic kids. http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/index.html

ARI has some good info. http://www.autismwebsite.com/ari/
