My 9 year old exhibits violent behavior outbursts on occasion. Generally they are always directed to one of his brothers.

Just this week, we had our appointment with his doctor and after discussing that they seem to be a bit more frequent than in the past, he has suggested that we have a sleep deprived EEG performed. He is wanting to do this in order to see if these outbursts are actually seizures.

Does anybody know further details and or experience with this procedure? Also, are seizures something that can be common in children with Aspergers?

As part of the diagnostic workup for Asperger's, my son was referred to a neurologist to rule out seizures. Some seizure disorders can manifest as behavioral symptoms.

Hi my son has autism and also has a seizure disorder that was discovered becasue of a sleep deprived EEg. We were given this eeg becuase of sudden violent outbreaks and "rages" as I call them. I founf this very helpful in answering questions of the unknown. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Thanks for your insight.
My wife is going to be setting up the appointment this week so we hope to have it done soon.
